Sylvan Botanicals is owned and operated
by Scott & Sylva Harris. Our woodland farm is located in the scenic
"Catskill Mountain" region of New York State. Taking advantage
of the unique environmental conditions that exist in our area, combined
with the desire to promote ginseng as an Agroforestry crop we decided
to expand our hobby into a full-time business in 1991. "Catskill Wild" and "Catskill Wild-Simulated" ginseng roots have always commanded and received higher prices than roots from other areas. We expect the demand will continue to rise due to the exceptional flavor and superior quality of roots produced in the Catskills. Sylva and I are proud to announce that Sylvan Botanicals is the largest distributor of Ginseng and Goldenseal planting stock in the northeast. Our plants are grown as wild simulated, thus utilizing the natural shade provided by mature Sugar Maple trees. We do not use chemical fungicides, pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.

Ginseng is employed to enhance ones health. We feel that the plant should not be the target of harmful chemical sprays that can accumulate in the root by the constant bombardment of carcinogenic and systemic chemical sprays.
We buy only fresh (green) wild ginseng roots for the sole purpose of replanting. We offer only "TRUE WILD GINSENG" roots to our customers. Roots that are deemed not fit for planting will be sold for consumption. Be assured that you will receive the highest quality and most sought after roots in America.
All planting and harvesting is carefully executed by hand. We personally inspect every root to insure that our customers continue to receive the finest quality planting stock available on the market today.
Our "Premium Grade" seed is float tested for viability, organically treated using our own special process and meets all stratification requirements before we ship them out to our customers. Each year we have our seeds tested for "germination percentage rates" through the Cornell University Seed Testing Laboratory. We do not offer lower grade, less expensive seed to our customers.
